Julie Shah is Chief Robotics Officer at Lila Sciences. She is a leading expert in human-robot collaboration, known for expanding the use of human cognitive models in AI across manufacturing, healthcare, transportation, and defense.  

Julie holds the H.N. Slater Professorship and serves as Head of the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT, where she also directs the Interactive Robotics Group. Prior to MIT, she worked at Boeing on robotics applications for aerospace manufacturing. She is the recipient of the 2018 IEEE RAS Academic Early Career Award for contributions to human-robot collaboration and the translation of research to real-world applications, and was named to MIT Technology Review's 35 Innovators Under 35 list. Julie is co-author of What to Expect When You're Expecting Robots: The Future of Human-Robot Collaboration.  

She holds a PhD, MS, and BS in Aeronautics and Astronautics from MIT.
