John Gregoire is Chief Autonomous Science Officer at Lila Sciences. He is a leading expert in accelerated materials discovery and autonomous experimentation, known for automating key research workflows spanning synthesis, screening, data interpretation, hypothesis generation, and closed-loop learning.
Prior to LILA, John served as Research Professor of Applied Physics and Materials Science at Caltech, where he also directed the High-Throughput Materials program. His work integrates combinatorial and high-throughput methods, automation, and active learning to build scalable scientific infrastructure.
John holds a PhD in Physics from Cornell University and a BA in Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science from Concordia College, and completed postdoctoral training in materials science at Cornell and Harvard.
